My second freelancing work, ✅!
Thanks to the power of networking, I got connected with a PhD student who desperately needs a web app to be up and running ASAP to collect DASS-21 survey results as part of her research.
The project is supposed to kickstart on the first week of October to accommodate for my busy work schedule, but boredom strikes. So, like any other bored individual, I decided to work more by getting a head start on this side project 2 weeks in advance.
Lo and behold, I finished the minimum viable product (MVP) version of the project in just a matter of days—starting all the way from scratch and way ahead of schedule. Granted, the design and look is nothing fancy, but it's easy on the eyes—befitting of a site related to mental health.
Plus, I got my hands dirty on new tech (Supabase) as well. Now, the project has been signed off. Client happy, developer happy. Win-win situation. 😂
Although this is just my second attempt at freelancing, it's the first time that I'm involved in the quotation negotiation process (managed to negotiate RM3K for the project!).
Moral of the story:
- Underpromise but overdeliver(?)
- In this economy, you have to be creative in utilising your skillset to expand your income sources (provided it doesn’t interfere with your FTE).
- Freelancing is so much fun! 10/10 would repeat and recommend!
