A letter left behind for the next wanderer — on solitude, searching, and how much life offers those who keep looking even when they feel lost.
A Letter from Kawaguchiko
I wrote this in a guestbook journal during my last night stay at a hostel in Fujikawaguchiko, as part of my 2-week solo travel in Japan.
I came here all alone without really knowing what I was looking for.
Perhaps it’s peace. Perhaps it’s clarity. Or maybe just a sense of purpose in a world that tends to punish those who seek meaning.
It’s day 5 out of 13, and this trip has been nothing short of life-changing.
I made a new friend on a rooftop in Hamamatsuchō, woke up at 4AM just to catch the sunrise over Mt. Fuji, and cycled all around Kawaguchiko Lake in under 6 hours(!).
It made me realise just how big this world is, and how much life has to offer to those who keep on searching — even when they feel lost.
To whoever reads this next:
I hope life gives you at least one trip where you learn just how peaceful your own company can be.
This was mine.
